Primary Care Clinics
Your family's medical home
A medical home is more than just a doctor's office. It’s where patients and families develop lifelong relationships with doctors, nurses and staff. As your child's medical home, Vanderbilt's Pediatric Primary Care Clinic is committed to building ongoing relationships to address your children’s medical needs as they grow and develop to reach their maximum potential.
Our goal is to keep your child well, thriving in school and at home. We do this through comprehensive medical care from birth through adolescence during regular visits, whether sick or well. We offer same-day access linked to your child’s complete medical record to ensure continuity of care.
Call us first for non-emergency care at (615) 936-2555. We have extended clinic hours by appointment Monday through Thursday, 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., and walk-in hours Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. We can help you decide if an emergency room visit or clinic appointment is right for you. Visiting the ER for minor illness can take a long time, be very expensive, and sometimes expose you and your child to other children’s illnesses.

Why Choose the Vanderbilt Pediatric Primary Care Clinic at Children's Hospital
- Premier location
We are one of the premier locations in our region practicing general pediatric medicine. Using evidence and striving for high-quality care, we have made such improvements as: controlling asthma symptoms; detecting and treating early childhood anemia; identifying depression in adolescents and referring patients to community resources; and improving early childhood dental care.
- Teaching hospital
As a teaching hospital, we work as a team of pediatric residents, attending physicians, nurse practitioners, nurses and health care students. Our residents spend three or more years in training at Children's Hospital. When they are not in clinic, our residents work closely with specialists to learn the latest advances. Your child may see only one doctor, or the resident may ask an attending (supervisor) for a second opinion.
- Expert care
Our nurse practitioners have advanced training in the care of children and families and are able to write prescriptions if needed. They provide excellent care and are an important part of our team.
- Continuity of care
Kids grow up fast. Regular visits in our clinic will help us get to know your child and his or her unique medical needs. You child should see the doctor for a checkup within the first few days of life. After that, we will help you make regular follow-up appointments over the next few years. Through these services we can identify individual needs and treatment options. If your child needs a special doctor, we can make referrals. Our goal is to work with you and specialists to create the best care plan for your child and family.
