General and Thoracic Surgery

Dedicated surgery care for children

When it’s your child, there’s no such thing as “minor surgery.” Our Pediatric General and Thoracic Surgery team at Monroe Carell has one goal: provide children and families with the best opportunity for healing and wellness.

Our experts in pediatric surgery treat conditions from common to rare, including appendicitis, hernias, tumors and birth defects. We work closely with a team of pediatricians, family physicians, pediatric anesthesiologists and other specialists, and pediatric home care providers.

A team of neonatal specialists and pediatric surgeons at Children's Hospital relieved the newborn's pulmonary hypertension by putting him on a heart-lung machine called ECMO so they could repair his airway and save his life.
