Dr Schaaf comes across as a caring, highly competent professional. His resident (forgot name) also is very good. Asked great questions and listened.

Dr. Scaaf did not seem interested in my health / medical problems. He asked why I was referred to this clinic. I have a connective tissue disorder with severe osteoarthritis, multiple joint replacements, and am recovering from a fractured right femur, hip and pelvis, which has resulted in complete detachment of the abductor muscles on the right side. I have chronic pain, but he said that he could not help me. He did refer me to the Osher center, PT, and another orthopedic doctor at Vanderbilt. While I do appreciate the referrals, I felt rushed and that he was annoyed and not at all interested in explaining what he does, or seeing if he does anything that could help me. This appointment was a confusing, negative experience.

Dr. Schaaf is a very kind, caring and exceptional physician. I am grateful that I was referred to him. My daughter is also under his care and she too reports what a caring and gifted individual he is and how he goes the extra mile to help. Again he is a valuable asset to Vanderbilt and I never leave his office feeling I didn't have anything but his full attention. He truly cares about his patients and at this time his kindness is a rare commodity in the health care field.
