Epilepsy pre-surgery evaluation

More testing for a better surgery outcome

If our team finds that your child is a candidate for surgical treatment of epilepsy, we will likely need to do further EEG and imaging tests to learn what kind of surgery would be best.

Also, in cases where seizures come from one area of the brain, more testing will help us better define the exact area in hopes of making the surgery work better.

Once we define that area of your child's brain, other tests such as Wada or functional MRI help us ensure there is no overlap between the seizure focus and parts of the brain that control important functions, such as speech, vision or movement.
